Why and what is the conflict?
WHY THE TREE?
When the engulfing fog covered her vision of the tree, she slouched onto the jagged ground. She knew it was hopeless but she couldn't look away, She couldn't give up the feeling that this is where she belonged. As she closed her eyes for what she imagined would be the last time, she saw a face. Then a hand reached out to her as words echoed in her ears.
"one shouldn't watch the tree to long"
Penelope grabed the extended hand and allowed herself to helped once more to a standing position. behind the stranger was the tree. she forced herself not to look at it.
Penelope was alone today, she was always alone, even when she was with people. She thought back to Tibor and envied the man with the constant companion. Silent was the way she liked her companions best. That was what she found so irristable about Ocheste, Tibor's companion. He was silent. Just a companion by her side who seemed to know her better than she knew herself who needed to say nothing to understand that all the comfort she longed for could best be given in the fur and purring of sitting next to her.
